Sprayway Hallin Jacket Review

Having owned this jacket for a couple of months over the summer it is now seeing increasing use as the temperatures fall and the wind and rain picks up. Such is the versatility of a decent softshell that it is hard to imagine a time when I didn't have one. In essence it is a lightweight layer which is perfectly at home in most weather. I generally wear mine as an outer layer, only resorting to a fully fledged waterproof jacket on top in actual rain. Even in rain, if I am simply popping to the shop and won't be in the elements too long I'm happy in the Hallin. It's reasonably water resistant and keeps the wind out.
I opted for the hooded, zipped model, which has two large zipped, mesh-lined pockets. By leaving all the zips open air can circulate well when the temperature hovers at the level of needing a layer, but not wanting to over-heat. The hood is roomy.
The fabric is soft on the skin, but so far feels nicely durable. It's smart-looking and packs down nice and small in a rucksack. Mine is a plain teal colour with burnt orange zips. It gets quite a few positive comments. I've been taking it climbing when it's on and off all day long. All in all I'm thoroughly happy with it.
Retails at £80. There's also a non-hooded jacket (£75) and a Gilet / Vest (£65). There's a women's Hoody model called the Charn (also £80).
