Sheffield Showcase - Best of ShAFF Wild Swim Night

Join us in the incredible, newly refurbished Samuel Worth Chapel for a very special evening of wild swimming films. With seating for only 50 people the space is intimate, but will surely become iconic, with its vaulted ceiling and ornate windows. We will screen a pair of feature-length films on what has become one of Sheffield's most popular activities - cold water swimming.
The Ice Mile (51mins) screened at ShAFF in March and was a firm favourite with audiences at the festival as it follows Becca over a year of her life, from coming out of the solitude of lockdowns, to being back in buzz of the swim community events as she trains toward her Ice Mile, exploring grief, healing, community, and the power of cold water.

Unsinkable (52mins) is the story of Alan Corcoran’s unprecedented 500-kilometre sea swim for charity. With the stunning backdrop of Northern Ireland and Ireland’s wild coastline, the story tells the succession of challenges faced during such a monumental undertaking. Raising €30,000 for cancer and stroke charities in memory of his dad, it’s a film that explores a person’s journey through grief, using the swimming project to channel negative emotions into a meaningful, hopeful, inspiring adventure.
